In the 24 years since its inception, JSS has provided vocational training to over

Many of these individuals have launched their own small businesses, while others have found stable employment. JSS Sindhudurg has the distinction of being the first rural Jana Shikshan Sansthan in the country.

India has witnessed significant advancements in healthcare, with new hospitals featuring state-of-the-art technology and infrastructure. This rapid expansion in the health sector has spurred a high demand for skilled medical and paramedical staff, both within India and internationally. Paramedical professionals play a crucial role in the smooth and efficient operation of any healthcare system, and India has become a leading source of this specialized workforce worldwide. Recognizing the need for qualified paramedics, Manav Sadhan Vikas Sanstha (MSVS) has established the Institute of Paramedical Sciences, the first of its kind in the Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri districts, to help meet this demand. The State Government has recently approved our proposal, and we are set to start offering courses.

Our institute aims to provide new career pathways for students who have completed the 10th or 12th standard. MSVS is offering three key paramedical courses:

• Certificate Course in Medical Lab Technician (2 years)
• Certificate Course in Operation Theatre Assistant (1 year)
• Certificate Course in ICU Assistant (6 months)

Given the numerous private and public hospitals serving patients in and around the Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri districts, as well as in neighboring metropolitan areas like Mumbai, Kolhapur, Pune, Goa, and Belgaum in Karnataka, which are equipped with modern technology and staffed by skilled doctors, the demand for these paramedical professionals is high.

Looking ahead, MSVS intends to introduce additional job-oriented paramedical courses such as Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy, and Occupational Therapy in the coming years, further expanding career opportunities for students in the region.

Sindhudurg district had long faced a shortage of quality health education facilities, forcing students to travel to cities like Mumbai, Pune, or Kolhapur to pursue studies in medicine and related health sciences. While the Ayurvedic Medical College in Sawantwadi and the Homoeopathic Medical College in Vengurle offered some relief, there was still a critical need for a Nursing School in the district. To address this gap, MSVS took the initiative to establish a nursing school, focusing on empowering women—who make up over half of the district's population—and providing them with educational and career opportunities.

The MSVS School of Nursing has been instrumental in addressing the shortage of trained nurses in Sindhudurg. It has created opportunities for economically disadvantaged students who otherwise couldn't afford to travel to distant cities for education. This pioneering project has not only brought nursing education to Sindhudurg but has also opened doors for many local women, enabling them to pursue meaningful careers in healthcare.
